Bachelor's Essay
Students may do an interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Essay in International Studies or may get credit for one within a discipline that is specifically on an International theme. The Bachelor's Essay is a 6 credit hour independent research project usually completed in the senior year and usually completed over a year. The deadline to sign up for the Bachelor's Essay is during the drop-add period the first week of classes. That is the enrollment deadline only and NOT the deadline to begin planning the Bachelor's Essay. Planning should start the semester before the work is to begin. If you are looking to complete the Bachelor's Essay with an International Studies (INTL) faculty member, then you will sign up for INTL 499A/B. Students must identify the faculty member with whom they would like to work and are responsible for determining the theme and design of the essay, with guidance from the chosen Faculty Advisor.
